چکیده

Applying properties of the Laplace transform, the transient heat diffusion equation can be transformed into a fractional (extraordinary) differential equation. This equation can then be modified, using the Fourier Law, into a unique expression relating the local value of the time-varying temperature (or heat flux) and the corresponding transient heat flux (or temperature). We demonstrate that the transformation into a fractional equation requires the assumption of unidirectional heat transport through a semiinfinite domain. Even considering this limitation, the transformed equation leads to a very simple relation between local timevarying temperature and heat flux. When applied along the boundary of the domain, the analytical expression determines the local time-variation of surface temperature (or heat flux) without having to solve the diffusion equation within the entire domain. The simplicity of the solution procedure, together with some introductory concepts of fractional derivatives, is highlighted considering some transient heat transfer problems with known analytical solutions. An analytical investigation is conducted to study the unsteady free convection heat and mass transfer flow through a non-homogeneous porous medium with variable permeability bounded by an infinite porous vertical plate in slip flow regime while taking into account the thermal radiation, chemical reaction, the Soret number, and temperature gradient dependent heat source. The flow is considered u...

A study of a Stefan problem governed with space–time fractional derivatives

This paper presents a fractional mathematical model of a one-dimensional phase-change problem (Stefan problem) with a variable latent-heat (a power function of position). This model includes space–time fractional derivatives in the Caputo sense and time-dependent surface-heat flux. An approximate solution of this model is obtained by using the optimal homotopy asymptotic method to find the solu...

Transient Aspects of Heat Flux Bifurcation in Porous Media: An Exact Solution

The transient thermal response of a packed bed is investigated analytically. A local thermal nonequilibrium model is used to represent the energy transport within the porous medium. The heat flux bifurcation phenomenon in porous media is investigated for temporal conditions and two primary types of heat flux bifurcations in porous media are established. Exact solutions are derived for both the ...

A New Technique of Reduce Differential Transform Method to Solve Local Fractional PDEs in Mathematical Physics

In this manuscript, we investigate solutions of the partial differential equations (PDEs) arising inmathematical physics with local fractional derivative operators (LFDOs). To get approximate solutionsof these equations, we utilize the reduce differential transform method (RDTM) which is basedupon the LFDOs. Illustrative examples are given to show the accuracy and reliable results. Theobtained ...
